I get asked all the time why live music should be included in events and weddings, and my answer is the same - because live music has the power to evoke emotions, stir old memories, and create new ones.
I have had so many experiences recently where music has shown its true power, let me tell you about a few.....
I did an afternoon show recently, and this was full of old time jazz classics. I was singing 'Dream a Little Dream of Me,' and I noticed a lady begin to cry. She came up to me afterwards and told me I'd made her day, as that was her mums' favourite song who had passed away, and her daughter (who she was out with) never made it to her funeral. This song was played during her send off, and she said it had made her day to hear it, whilst out with her daughter, so they could experience it together.
I played a 60s show at a local care home last week, and one of the residents who is usually non-verbal, and doesn't show any emotions or reactions on a daily basis quite literally came alive during my set. I was singing songs by Doris Day, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, The Beatles, The Drifters, and many more, and you could just see the sparkle in their eyes, and a smile each time a song they knew came on. Every time I sing here, the staff say how much this person changes, and they know it's the music that does it.
So when you're thinking about live music for your event, how does all this tie in? Well, you might have favourite artists, or a song that takes you back to a time in your life, and all of this can be brought to life with live music.
You see, live music can bring about real time experiences and moments that music through a speaker just can't, it can reach people on a much deeper level, and its THAT that will create your memorable moments.
Live music has a place at so many events, whether it be a birthday party, anniversary party, wedding, baby shower, or any other celebration or get together! I would love to be a part of helping you to create memorable moments at your next event, so please get in touch if you'd like to hear more!
