A Day in the Life of a Wedding Musician - how we put together the live music for your wedding!

People often see the polished performance on a wedding day - the romantic aisle song, the chilled background music while guests mingle, the packed dancefloor when the band kicks in -

but what most couples don’t see is everything that happens behind the scenes.

As a wedding acoustic duo (and with our live music band for weddings in the evening), we’re often with couples for the entire day, from the ceremony right through to the last song of the night. So what does a typical wedding look like from our side of the stage?

Let us take you behind the scenes.

The early start

Our day usually begins bright and early, loading up the car with all the our kit, instruments, and multiple PA systems for different parts of the day - and a snack bag too! If we are on our Showstopper package, we'll likely be arriving at the venue beginning our set up around 2 hours before your guests arrive.

Because we’re the same team for the whole wedding, we know exactly what equipment needs to go where. There’s no confusion between different suppliers or “dead air” while musicians swap over. Everything is ready before the first guest even arrives.

Ceremony

This is where the nerves kick in (ours as much as yours!) Being a wedding singer or musician at the ceremony is a big responsibility, as your aisle walk is the song you’ll remember forever. We work with couples beforehand to make sure the aisle walk is perfectly timed and that the music flows smoothly for the signing of the register.

It always feels like such a privilege to be part of that moment. We’ve had brides and grooms tell us afterwards that hearing their chosen song live made it even more emotional, and that’s one of the many reasons why we do what we do.

Drinks reception

Once you've exited your ceremony as a newly married couple, it's time to celebrate! We move into our wedding acoustic duo set, playing relaxed, feel-good music while guests grab a drink, chat, and take photos. It’s all about creating that laid-back, happy atmosphere where people can tap their feet, hum along, or just enjoy the background music.

What makes this really special is that your guests already know us from the ceremony, so it feels familiar and personal, giving you a natural flow of music throughout the day.

Singing you into the wedding breakfast

One of our favourite parts of the day is the couple’s entrance into the wedding breakfast. Instead of simply walking in to a track over the venue speakers, we perform a bespoke live version of a song that means something to you both - a fun, upbeat way to start the meal and get everyone cheering as you make your entrance.

It’s a real “wow” moment that sets the tone for the rest of the day. Guests love it, and it feels extra special to know it’s been sung live just for you - and there's nothing like your guests cheering you on, and waving their napkins in the air to get your wedding breakfast started!

From there, we generally continue with light acoustic music during the meal, carefully balancing volume so conversation flows naturally while still keeping the atmosphere warm and lively.

Getting ready for the evening

While you and your guests are enjoying dinner and speeches, we’re also quietly preparing for the evening party. This is the behind-the-scenes part couples don’t usually see, the changeover from our daytime acoustic setup to the full wedding band.

We’ll have already planned the evening sound system earlier in the day, so during the room turnaround we'll get to work on setting up drums, amps, and lights, and sound-checking. Depending on the space available, we might have already done some pre-sound checks earlier in the day, but this is our opportunity to make sure that your evening music sounds amazing, so we'll ensure no stone is left unturned to make this happen.

Evening party

When you enter the dance floor as a married couple, the full band will often play your first dance, followed by another upbeat song of your choice, before we move into the evening party music. Our mission is to give you a party you'll never forget, and keep your dancefloor full all night long!
