How Long Is Your Wedding To-Do List?

I imagine your wedding to-do list is probably pretty long! One thing that’s likely on it is choosing your wedding music. Whether it’s a blank line or a question mark next to “wedding music,” it can be tricky to know where to start. Don’t worry – I’m here to help!

Whether you’re hiring a live musician or having a on playlist, planning your wedding music is a key part of creating the atmosphere you want. Here are my top tips to help you get started.

Step 1: Consider Hiring a Live Musician

Deciding whether to hire a live musician is an important first step. It often comes down to budget and whether you envision live music as part of your big day. If you can stretch your budget to include a live musician, I promise you won’t regret it! A professional musician will not only bring an extra layer of magic to your wedding day, but will also help guide you through the planning process. If the idea of organizing another detail feels overwhelming, booking live music might just be the solution you need.

Step 2: Decide on the Key Songs

There are a few important moments in your wedding day that will need music. Here’s a breakdown of the essential songs to choose:

• Your entrance song

• 2-3 songs for the register signing

• Your exit song

• Your first dance song

You might also want to choose songs for moments like:

• The confetti shot

• The bouquet throw

• Your wedding breakfast entrance

• The father/daughter or mother/son dance

Feel free to get creative – if there are other moments where you’d like a special song, we can work it into the schedule!

Step 3: Think About the Vibe You Want to Create

Do you picture your guests swaying gently to acoustic tunes, tapping their feet to classic jazz, or dancing to upbeat Ibiza hits? Your music should match the overall vibe you want to create for your wedding.

We’ll collaborate with you to craft the perfect setlist that fits your style and sets the right tone throughout your day.

Step 4: Personalize Your Setlist

Music is a powerful way to showcase your unique style as a couple. Are you both fans of 90s pop? Indie rock? Or maybe you have a favorite artist or genre that defines your relationship?

There are very few songs that we can’t incorporate into a wedding setlist. So, if you have some unconventional choices, or tracks that aren’t traditionally “wedding songs,” bring them to the table! One of the joys of having live music is the ability to create bespoke versions of your favorite songs to fit your wedding’s vibe.

I hope this gives you a solid foundation for planning your wedding music. If you need any more tips or advice, don’t hesitate to reach out – I’m here to help! Don't forget to check out my wedding packages page to start thinking about where live music might feature in your day!
